Building Financial Security

Building-Financial-SecurityProverbs 10:3
“The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.”

Building financial security is the desire of every person. Those who take care of the finances of each household constantly look at how they can build financial security. Sadly, the greatest resource that shows someone how to build financial security has been consistently avoided; that source is the Word of God. In Proverbs 10, God shows us four mindsets someone must have if they are going to build financial security.

First, you must have a saving mindset if you are going to build financial security. Proverbs 10:4 says, “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” A “slack hand” is one that is not careful with what they do with their money. You will never build financial security if you don’t know where your money is going. The only way to get control of where your money is spent is with a budget. You must allow your household budget to dictate how much money you spend in each area. If you become slack in this area, you will always hurt financially. Most people don’t hurt financially because they don’t have enough money; instead, they hurt financially because they are not diligent enough to know where their money is being spent.

Second, you must have a working mindset if you are going to build financial security. Proverbs 10:5 says, “He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” Lazy people never get ahead financially. Stop trying to find ways to get out of work; instead, find ways to make money. For instance, don’t turn down overtime when it is offered. That is a way to make more money. Find ways to work side jobs to make extra money. Never be above any type of work.

Fundamental Baptist Church Alvarado TXThird, you must have a righteous mindset if you are going to build financial security. Proverbs 10:2 says, “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.” Living right has a way of saving money. Have you ever stopped and considered how expensive a sinful lifestyle is? You will not live a sinful lifestyle and build financial security. There is something about living right that saves money. When you live right, you won’t have to pay child support from an illicit affair. When you live right, you won’t have to pay credit card debt from financial binges. Having a righteous mindset will keep you from becoming covetous and spending money on needless things. A righteous mindset will allow you to have more money at the end of the month.

Fourth, you must have a spiritual source mindset if you are going to build financial security. The verse above says, “The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish…” You must always remember that the LORD is the source of all your income. Don’t ever forget that! He is the One Who will supply your needs. Don’t ever develop the mindset that you can do it on your own. It doesn’t matter how financially successful you have become, everything you have has come from God.

Friend, these four mindsets are an important part of developing financial security. If you will develop these four mindsets, you will find that the LORD has already supplied your needs. You will find with these mindsets that you do have the current resources needed to build financial security.
