Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired?” Well, you are not alone, and it seems more and more people are finding themselves having fewer and fewer good days when it comes to health and just feeling good. A remarkable finding put out by AARP says that on average, people 45 and older take four prescription medications daily (Linda L. Barrett, 2005). In fact, the CDC says that 1 in 2 people have taken one prescription drug in the last 30 days while 1 in 4 are using 3 or more in that time period. The fact that 1 in 10 people have taken 5 or more prescription drugs in the last 30 days should really make us concerned (CDC/National Center for Health Statistics, 2014). It would appear from these reports that something is terribly wrong with the health of the most “medically advanced society this world has ever known.” High blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, metabolic syndrome are all dealt with through medication and a push toward a diet that has been recommended for the last fifty plus years by the government and medical agencies alike. The fact that the numbers of people suffering from these conditions have continued to go up every year haven’t kept the schools from indoctrinating our children from elementary grades through high school graduation with this improper nutritional approach. The question that we should be asking ourselves is, “When do we write this failed nutritional concept off and start looking for what actually works?”
The problem is that many of us have seen the failing health of our families and friends and have tried to determine the best way to make the necessary corrections in our diets and lifestyles only to find an overwhelming number of “authorities” promoting this diet or the next, or the latest big supplement discovery. We get lost with what is marketing and what is science, and while trying to find our way through this maze we lose confidence in the things that can be the most help, common sense and prayer. I was asked to provide a series of articles to help break through this maze and offer a more basic approach to health using logic from the Scriptures combined with proven science and good old common sense. We will discuss issues such as: Is vegetarianism scriptural and beneficial? Is raw food better than cooked? Are fats bad for me? Here comes the big one, why can’t I lose weight and keep it off? Why am I so tired? I can’t shake this headache, and I wish I could sleep.
My field of study is in the science of Nutritional Balancing utilizing a soft tissue biopsy (hair) and Hair Mineral Analysis to determine the oxidation rating of the system (body), individual mineral and toxic metal levels, and their ratios at the cellular level. This information helps me to understand the types of food you should be eating (and not eating) and the supplements you need to balance your system. Most of us know that we are toxic to some degree or another, and that these toxins play a major role in our declining health. Things like brain fog, ADD and ADHD, poor attitudes, emotional problems, adrenal burnout, chronic fatigue, lupus, obesity, some auto-immune conditions and many others all have their roots in this problem. What most of us don’t know is how this system imbalance and toxicity can be corrected so proper health can be restored. Future articles will take these conditions, look at how diet can affect most of the health conditions we deal with on a daily basis and the changes we can make to correct them. We will try to bring you studies and research to shine the light of truth on many of the marketing promises of the latest and greatest weight loss programs and give you helpful research on products that will actually benefit you.
God says in 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” This is truly my desire for you that you are in good health. I realize that we can serve God with more strength when we are healthy.
My name is Mike Lovell and I could use your prayers and suggestions as I attempt to help you with your health concerns and questions.
