Isaiah 60:19
“The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.”
I love the sunshine! I don’t know if it is the California blood coming out of me or not, but I love being where the sun shines. I love being up early in the morning and seeing the sun rise. I love the warmth of the summer day. I love the ability to work when the sun shines. I love the sunshine!
It excites me when God says there will be a day when the sun never sets. God says the day will come when He will be the light. The day will come when the sun does not need to shine for He will be the “everlasting light.” It will be a glorious day when the sun never sets. There are several thoughts this brings to mind.
First, when the sun never sets, there will be no more sickness. When God says that the sun will never set, that reminds me of times when I was a child and my mother would get concerned when I had a fever because the fever would spike at night. Imagine the day when the sun never sets and you will never again have to fight sickness. Never again will a person have to get chemotherapy treatment because of cancer. Never again will a parent see their child pass away. Never again will someone grab their chest because of a heart attack. Never again will the surgeon’s scalpel cut a sick body. Yes, there is coming a day when the sun will never set and all sickness will be gone.
Second, when the sun never sets there will be no more crime. Statistics show that most crime happens in the night. That means there is coming a day when a child will never fear a predator who lures around the corner. Never again will the lady have to be concerned with the criminal who wants to hurt her. Never again will the homeowner have to lock their doors out of fear of the thief breaking in. Never again will there will another siren of police racing to a murder scene. When the sun never sets there will never again be another crime.
Third, when the sun never sets there will not be politicians to establish laws against the Word of God. This will be a great day because when the sun never sets, God will be in charge. When the sun never sets, there will be no judge to overturn a Scriptural law, for God will be the judge. When the sun never sets, not one person will be arrested for preaching the Word of God or spreading the Gospel. These will never happen because truth and righteousness will be the atmosphere of God’s kingdom.
Christian, this should be an encouragement to your heart. It doesn’t matter what type of trial you face today, there is coming a day when the sun will never set for God will be the Light. He will be the One Who rules and reigns. In that day, God will be the One Who will be in full control.
What should you do with this thought today? You should glorify God because of this truth. In verse 21, God says that He will perform this work so that He “may be glorified.” Christian, you should live today glorifying God in all that you do and say because there will be a day when the sun never sets. Glorify God in all that you do so that the lost can see the hope that you carry. Glorify God by being a witness to those around you and let them know in their trials they can have the same hope you have if they will simply trust Christ. Take this thought today and meditate on it throughout the day and let it cause you to glorify God in everything that you do.
