Jesus, the King of Your Life

Isaiah 9:6
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

One of the prophecies that every Christian anticipates is when Jesus is set up to rule on the Earth. The verse above shows us how Jesus will govern when He rules. His government won’t be filled with corruption as we see with every government in the world, rather His government will be established with judgment and justice. In other words, everything that Jesus will do will be done in truth.

That day when Jesus governs the world will be a great day. The problem is that we don’t live in that day. We still live in a world that is governed by sinful men, and in some cases, evil men. However, though Jesus does not yet reign on this Earth, He can reign in your life. You can set up Jesus as the King of your life. Let me make it clear that just because you are saved does not mean that Jesus is the King of your life. There are many Christians who still let sin reign in their life. There are many Christians who are letting this world’s system control their life. But, to those who let Jesus reign in their life, they will find four great results.

First, they will find that increase will become a part of their life. The verse above says that there will be no end to the “increase of his government.” In other words, increase is the goal when Jesus reigns. Jesus does not want your life to be one that is stagnant; but He wants your life to be one that increases. This is not talking about finances, though it can be; this is talking about a mindset to increase in all that you do. If you will let Jesus reign in your life, you will find that victory will be a regular experience. God wants His children to increase in every area of their life.

Second, you will find peace when Jesus is King of your life. Jesus gives peace. You will still experience trials in life, but you will find that you will be at peace when Jesus is your King. There is something about the peace of God in your heart that helps you when you go through your trials. The only way you will experience that is if you allow Him to reign on the throne of your heart.

Third, you will find judgment when Jesus is King of your life. In other words, you will be able to make right decisions when He sits on the throne of your heart. When you take your pride and personal desires off the throne of your heart and sit Jesus on that throne, you will find that His desires will guide your decisions. His desires lead to good judgment. You will be amazed how your judgment of situations will be much clearer when He rules in your life.

Fourth, you will find justice when Jesus is King of your life. When Jesus rules on the throne of your heart, you will find it easier to treat everyone properly. You will find it easier to treat those who have hurt you in a proper way when Jesus sits on the throne of your heart. You will find that someone’s treatment of you, their background, finances or the color of their skin will not be an issue when Jesus sits on the throne of your heart.

Christian, Jesus has not yet set up His kingdom on this Earth, but He truly desires to set up His kingdom in your heart. Will you let Him? You will find if you will remove everything and everyone else off the throne of your heart and let Jesus sit on that throne that these four things will be prevalent in your life. Always remember that this is a daily decision. Every day you must decide to let Jesus sit on the throne of your heart, and then tell Him you want Him to sit on that throne. The days you do this will be the greatest days of your life.
