Prodigal Nation

Prodigal-Nationby: William Tyson

We have all heard the story of the prodigal son. It is a story of selfish decisions and bad friendships, yet it vividly displays the wonderful truths of grace and restoration. While a parable, this story has played out in many families. Young people who forge relationships with the wrong crowd and turn their backs on what they have been taught will always reap what they have sown. Today, many a young person, in rebellion, is in a far country wasting his or her substance on riotous living and breaking the hearts of their parents and those who have invested in their lives.

Today America is a far country. We are wasting our substance on riotous and frivolous living. We are in many ways “a prodigal nation.” How did we get here? How did this all begin? The reality is that the seeds of rebellion have always been present, but this rebellion began to accelerate in the 60’s & 70’s. Attacks from the left and militant atheists began a concerted effort to undermine our liberties. The first amendment became their first target.

There are three landmark cases that changed the meaning of the First amendment as it was previously understood and practiced in America. These cases include Engel vs.Vitale in 1962, the famous Murray vs. Curlett case in 1963, and a lesser known case of Abington Township School District vs. Schempp. All three attacked prayer, Bible reading and religious activity of any sort held in a public school. Incredibly, the National Council of Churches and several Jewish organizations actually favored the Madelyn O’Hair case! Not a single Christian organization, to our shame, filed a brief in support of school prayer, so the case went virtually uncontested before the Court. The Supreme Court ruled 8 to 1 in favor of abolishing school prayer and Bible reading in the public school.

These three rulings essentially revised the First Amendment, putting restrictions on the people, and not the government!

Since these three landmark decisions, we have seen teen pregnancy rise and teen sexual activity has increased dramatically to the point where the vast majority of teenagers lose their purity before the age of 15.

1 in 6 teenagers have thought about suicide. 1 in 12 have tried to commit suicide…

30,000 commit suicide every year…1.5 million since these rulings.

Violence in our schools and gang activity have both increased.

America has asked for its inheritance and is out spending it’s substance on riotous living.

As a nation we are reaping what we have sown.

In 1973, the Roe vs. Wade case came to the Supreme Court, and on January 22, 1973, abortion for all women was legalized. Since Roe vs. Wade, 56 million abortions have been performed in America. 1.3 billion worldwide since 1980. Many of those paid for with your tax dollars through organizations such as Planned Parenthood which alone this year has already conducted 78,000 abortions.

As a nation we are reaping what we have sown: We are a prodigal Nation.

As of this year, same-sex marriage is legally recognized in several jurisdictions within the United States; as of January 2013, nine states – Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont and Washington – as well as the District of Columbia.

We should be reminded that every state can pass laws defining marriage, but God still defines it as between one man and one woman. We are inviting the judgment of God on this nation. We are a prodigal nation away from God.

America’s entertainment has become lewd and lascivious. Hollywood has for many years been pushing an agenda to normalize the gay lifestyle, promote sexually immoral behavior, and to call anyone who stands against such actions as bigoted and hateful. Hollywood has undermined the institution of marriage. There was a time in America when divorce was shameful. There was a time when immoral behavior was hidden, now we call it Reality TV. We are giving up our civil liberties for so called security.

We are a Prodigal Nation.

Psalm 11:3 says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

Today we have a choice. We can throw in the towel. We can throw up our hands, or we can do what I believe our founding fathers did at the founding of this nation. We can fight! We can stand with a vision for what this country can be again.

“If we wish to be free, if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending, if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained _ we must fight!” – Patrick Henry

We have much to admire and love and be thankful for in being able to call America our home; however, our nation is rapidly drifting from its biblical foundations. Our freedom to serve God and to promote the Gospel in our land is disintegrating. We are engaged in a great spiritual battle that threatens our country, our families and our lives.

Only God’s intervention will return America to solid footing and restore a moral nation that righteousness will exalt. The Bible commands us to be salt and light in Matthew 5:13-16. We must take our responsibility seriously. Our responsibility is to put God first, not only in our homes, but also in our national affairs.

America is in trouble. We are a prodigal nation. What shall we do? What is our call to action?

          1. We must pray.

James 5:16 says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

More important than starting a voter registration drive, and more important than debating your adversary is getting alone with God and asking Him to stay His hand of judgment; asking God to bless America once again. Our founding fathers knew the power and purpose of prayer. From our nations beginning through times of war and tragedy, we have been called to pray that the hand of Almighty God might show forth His mercy and intervene with His grace towards America.

Today is no different.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray , and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

We need to understand that God does not see souls as Republicans or Democrats. He sees mankind as lost or saved. The answer for America is not Conservatism. The answer for America is not on Fox News or talk radio. Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity don’t have the answer. What this nation is longing for and searching for is to fill the void that only Jesus Christ can fill. Jesus Christ is the answer! The Gospel is what will bring this prodigal back to God!

         2. We must participate.

Participating within the process for change is the ultimate key to its success. It is futile to gripe and complain about what one considers wrong or unjust in our land, and not participate in the process of changing it for the better. The Scriptures are clear, James 4:17 says, “…therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

What we need is for God’s people to step up and participate. Participate in preaching the Gospel. Participate in the public forum. Participate in the political process. God’s calling to the ministry is the greatest calling, but not everyone is called to preach. Perhaps God would have you be our next congressman, senator or president. How would that change America? Grab your Bible and your Constitution and get involved!

          3. We must persevere.

When fighting for right, we must never cease until we prevail. It’s about time God’s people make the decision – I refuse to give up, I refuse to give in and I refuse to quit, for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

We are fighting for that which is right, therefore we must never cease to fight the good fight, as Paul did, until we prevail. The battle is not always won by the smartest or strongest, but rather comes to those who persevere. We know from Scripture, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31) We must be reminded that all the resources of the Creator are available to us. May we access this power and persevere!

Keep the faith Christian! This generation is dependent on you. This Prodigal nation needs to come home! Pray, participate and persevere!

Praising the Works of the LORD

Psalm 111:1
“Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.”

One of the themes of the Book of Psalms is to praise the LORD. Of all the people who ought to be praised, the LORD is most worthy of praise. I would say that we are all guilty of not praising the LORD enough. Sadly, we will sing the praises and works of mankind, but rarely do we stop and spend time praising the LORD.

Psalm 111 shows us that we are to praise the works of the LORD. God says in verse 2, “The works of the LORD are great,…” Though there are many works for which we could and should praise the LORD, God gives us some specific works for which He desires praise.

First, praise the LORD for His work of righteousness. Righteousness is doing right works. In other words, God wants you to praise Him for the work of Calvary. Christian, when is the last time you stopped and spent ten minutes praising God for what He did on Calvary? Do you not remember that His work of Calvary saved you from your sins? A week should never go by that you don’t stop and praise the work of Calvary. Praise Him for the work of what His shed blood did by washing your sins away.

Second, praise the LORD for His work of compassion. Verse 4 says that the LORD is “full of compassion.” When you were hurting, it was the LORD’s compassion that brought you through. Have you praised Him for being compassionate towards you? Nobody deserves the LORD’s compassion, yet He found it in Himself to show you compassion when you were hurting. When a loved one passed away, it was the LORD’s compassion that helped you. When you experienced life’s hurts, it was the LORD’s compassion that comforted you. You ought to take time to praise Him for His compassion.

Third, praise the LORD for His work of provision. Verse 5 talks about God giving “meat” to those who fear Him. Have you ever looked in your cabinets or refrigerator and stopped to praise the LORD for providing your food? I’m afraid all of us have taken for granted the provision God provides for us on a daily basis. You ought to be sure to praise Him for your cabinets being full of food.

Fourth, praise the LORD for His work of protection. In verse 6, God reminds us how He protected us from the heathen’s attack. When the world has tried to destroy you, God was there to protect you. Everyone at some time has had the LORD’s protecting hand save them from the attacks of the heathen. You ought to take time to praise Him for His protection.

Finally, praise the LORD for His work of redemption in your life. Verse 9 says, “He sent redemption unto his people:…” A day should never go by that you don’t praise Him for saving your soul. The work of God’s redemption in your life saved you from Hell. The LORD’s work of redemption saved your life from much heartache that sin would have brought if He hadn’t redeemed you. Don’t take for granted the work of redemption, but stop and praise Him for this great work.

Friend, don’t ever let a day go by that you don’t take time to praise the LORD for His works in your life. Maybe on one day one of these works means more to you than the other; then take time to praise Him for that work. On the other hand, you could take two or three of these works and spend time praising Him collectively for them. However you choose to do it, be sure to regularly praise the LORD for His works.

The Poster-child of Poor Leadership

1 Kings 1:5
“Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.”

You often read books and articles about what makes great leaders, but often miss the important principles of what makes poor leadership. Poor leadership reveals what type of leadership is good. Studying the negative side of leadership will point out what you should not do, but it can also teach what you should do.

Adonijah is one of those people in the Scriptures who shows us what makes up poor leadership. When his father was old, and he knew that his days were numbered, he arrogantly proclaimed himself to be the king. If it wasn’t for the Prophet Nathan stepping in, Israel easily could have had this poor character as their king. You will find in Adonijah’s short time of leadership several characteristics that make a poor leader.

First, poor leadership points to themselves. It says in the verse above, “Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself,…” This man was so filled with pride that he wanted everyone to see how great he thought he was. You will find that great leaders don’t point to themselves, but they point to the one whom they represent. A great pastor will point to Christ. A great political leader will point to the greatness of their country.

Second, poor leadership desires position. Adonijah said, “I will be king:…” He was not appointed to this position. He was not elected to this position; instead, he lobbied for this position. The poorest leader will be one who desires position. One of the reasons there are so many poor political leaders today is because many of them have campaigned their whole adult life for that position. Some of the greatest leaders of history were not one’s who wanted the position, but they were one’s who others begged to take the position. Poor leadership fills their time trying to get position while great leadership fills their time doing what they are supposed to do.

Third, poor leadership will not follow the advice of previous generations. It says about Adonijah that he did not confer with the mighty men who followed his father. You will find that poor leadership often despises the successes of previous generations. You will often find that poor leadership will belittle the successes of previous generations in order to build themselves and their “successes.” The only way poor leadership will look great is to belittle what previous generations have done.

Fourth, poor leadership is wasteful. In verse 9, Adonijah wasted sheep, oxen and cattle in abundance. Poor leadership does not understand the value of using their resources wisely. Poor leadership will always look how they can spend what they have instead of saving and giving back to their followers.

Whenever you look for someone to lead you, your family, or your church, always be sure that they don’t have the characteristics of poor leadership. Poor leadership can look enamoring, but they will eventually hurt you and those whom you love. When looking for leadership, do what Jeremiah did in Jeremiah 5:5, “I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD,…” You will always be safe if you get to those who “have known the way of the LORD.”

The Father of the Culture Driven Church

The-Father-of-the-Culture-Driven-Church_articleby: Dr. Bob Gray Sr.

Rick Warren has succeeded in doing what many evangelicals before him have failed to do. He has drawn our Baptist churches into evangelicalism and then into the “emerging church” drama. With his numerically large church attendance and his Baptist background and his conservative-sounding doctrine, he has introduced evangelical practices into what were once traditional Baptist churches.

Rick Warren criticizes Baptist churches clinging to “tradition” that does not take into account modern culture; like the tradition of Bible preaching as defined in 2 Timothy 3:16, “doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness.” Baptist Warrenites now use evangelical-style preaching that uplifts people without sweeping out the dirt from underneath their feet, preaching which professes righteousness without condemning sin. Preaching, which “reaches the people where they are,”without guiding them by the hand to where they ought to be.

Baptist evangelicals are forsaking the tradition of “Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught…” (Titus 1:9) Holding fast to the King James Bible, which has been handed down to us through the centuries from the Textus Receptus Greek text, and not forsaking God’s words for the new boys on the block, Wescott and Hort and Nestle and Aland and Black and Metzger, who have beguiled us with better manuscripts, which lay in dusty libraries, Vatican trash bins, and hidden caves, unused for centuries.

Baptist people are forsaking the tradition of godly, spiritual music that refreshes the soul without swaying the hips, as commanded by God in Ephesians 5:19, “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and SPIRITUAL songs (apparently there are UNSPIRITUAL songs), singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord:”

Baptist people are forsaking the tradition of modest dress, as God commanded in 1 Timothy 2:9. Isaiah 47:3 teaches that it is a shame to be unclothed, and lack of clothing is associated in the Bible with bad music (Exodus 32:18-19, 25), drunkenness (Lamentations 4:21, Habakkuk 2:15), and prostitution (Ezekiel 16:36, 23:18, Revelation 17:16).

Yet, the preaching of dress standards is labeled by Warren, and now some Independent Baptists, as legalistic, as found on page 236 of THE PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH. Pastor Warren does not even understand basic Bible terminology. Legalism is adding works to faith to produce salvation. (Galatians chapters 2-3, Romans 9:32, Hebrews 6:1)

On the copyright page of his book, THE PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH, before you even arrive at the Table of Contents, you will find something on the copyright page. On that page Pastor Warren lists seven different “bibles” he quotes within the pages of his book. These include the New International Version, then New Revised Standard Version, New Century Version, J. B. Phillips, and The Message.

Interesting, Rick does quote several times from the King James Bible, but since it is not copyrighted, he did not have to receive any man’s permission to use it.

Baptist pastors, Rick Warren does not respect what your fathers stood for! On page 236, he refers to “isolationists” who “reject new translations of Scripture, current musical styles, and any attempt to modify man-made traditions…” Scriptures have already been mentioned in this article to support “man-made” tradition, despite the fact that Warren goes on to say that isolationists have a “list of what is permissible and what isn’t regarding issues that the Bible is silent on.” (Emphasis mine) Of course, it is entirely possible that his Bibles ARE silent on these issues, but the King James Bible is very clear.

On page 55, Warren accuses us old-fashioned Baptists of being dishonest by saying, “In contrast, churches that try to perpetuate the culture of the 1950’s usually deny their intent or they try to prove with proof-texts that they are doing it the way it was done in New Testament times.”

Well, excuse us for using the Bible as our guide! If I stand accused of preferring the 1950’s to the 2000’s, I will not be offended. In the 1950’s women still wore dresses, sodomites were still afraid to come out of their closets, and men still led their homes. Yes, we still prefer that era to today, when modestly-dressed women must make their own clothes, certain states (and Disney) recognize the “rights” of sodomite “couples,” and more than half of all marriages end in divorce – when the couple bothers to marry at all.

Of course my question is how in the world did Rick Warren fool so many Baptists, and especially our young ones?

HIS SEEMING STRONG STAND ON EVANGELISM

Page 64 of his book reads, “Any church that is not obeying the Great Commission is failing its purpose, no matter what else it does.” Page 32 reads, “You measure the health or strength of a church by its sending capacity, not by its seating capacity.”

These standards could easily have been made from a Baptist pulpit. By these statements, however, he does not mean the confrontational, on the streets, one-on-one soul winning demonstrated in the Gospels and the book of Acts. Instead, he teaches the drawing of the “unchurched” into a “seeker service” designed specifically to win souls.

He accomplishes this not by door-to-door soul winning, but with advertising, surveys, seeking out what the people want, and community programs. He brings the “unchurched” in, then preaches the plan of salvation from the pulpit sandwiched in between a rock and roll show with Jesus’ name added.

Warren teaches not to pressure a man to receive Christ (page 304), despite the great Apostle Paul’s example, who “disputed with” and “persuaded” men in Acts 19:8. At the invitation, rather than bring sinners to the altar, he asks visitors to indicate on their visitor card whether, (A) they believed in Christ that day, (B) they had previously “committed their life to Christ,” (C) they were still thinking about it, or (D) they doubted they would ever receive Christ.

The use of a “seeker service” instead of one-on-one soul winning is man’s method, not God’s method. Even at the day of Pentecost, the thousands who heard the Gospel had not come to any service at all. Peter and the other Apostles took advantage of the crowds on the street during a Jewish feast day. They had no church building yet. In fact, in the Book of Acts, there is not one record of anyone being saved or even baptized in a church building.

It would be stretching the imagination to believe that 3,000 were baptized in the upper room.  More likely, in Acts 2, the Apostles baptized in one or more of the twelve public pools of Jerusalem.

In Acts 8, Philip preached and baptized in a city of Samaria, where no church existed yet. The Ethiopian Eunuch was baptized in an oasis in the desert in Acts 8:26-36. The Apostle Paul was baptized by Ananias in the house of a disciple named Judas in Acts 9:11-18.

Cornelius and his companions were baptized in Cornelius’ house in Acts chapter 10. Lydia and her household were baptized in a river in Acts 18:7-8.

Holding a seeker service to bring the “unchurched” to the church, then not inviting them to trust Christ as their Saviour and to be baptized immediately after salvation is not Scriptural. In the Book of Acts, those who were saved were baptized “the same day” (Acts 2:41) and “the same hour” (Acts 16:13). The non-confrontational, non-personal method of soul winning is not scriptural.

D. L. Moody once let a crowd go without pushing for a definite decision for Christ, and the next day scores of them died in the Chicago fire. Rick Warren’s salvation survey at the end of his seeker service lets sincere sinners slip out unsaved.

CULTURE OR WORLDLINESS?

The book should be titled, THE CULTURE DRIVEN CHURCH, for that is its central theme.  The basic premise of the book is that the church should adapt itself to the culture of those whom they are attempting to reach with the Gospel.

Yet, the Bible says, “come out from among them, and be ye separate…” (2 Corinthians 6:17). Jesus was “separate from sinners.” (Hebrews 7:26). In fact, separation is not on the part of the saved, but the unsaved and unspiritual, who “separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.” (Jude 19). There is a definite division in the New Testament between the lives of believers and unbelievers, the spiritual, and the carnal. Anyone can be saved, but the saved are commanded to be separate from their carnal culture.

However, Pastor Warren makes such statements as: “One of my favorite movies is…” (page 28). “I intentionally dress down to match the mindset of those I’m trying to reach.” (Page 171) “There is no such thing as ‘Christian music’, only Christian lyrics.” (Page 282)

While it is true there is no verse in the Bible specifically mentioning some of these issues, since there were no movie theaters in Peter’s day, there are some definite Bible precepts which pastor Warren has on purpose overlooked.

“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes…” (Psalm 101:3) “Abstain from all appearance of evil…” (1 Thessalonians 5:22) “Mine eye affecteth mine heart…” (Lamentations 3:51) “…he hearth cursing and bewrayeth it not.” (Proverbs 29:24) Did Pastor Warren stand up in the middle of a movie with cursing and denounce (bewray) the bad and vile language during a movie? I wouldn’t count on it!

Pastor Warren is bringing sinners out of the world into an environment that is no different from the world. He is like King Ahaz in 2 Kings 16, who saw an altar in a pagan temple in Damascus. He liked it so much, he had the priests in Jerusalem make one just like it. He then arranged the furniture of the temple around the Syrian altar. It was there that his priests performed sacrifices.

However, it did not stop there. The people continued to model their religion after the world, until they had become wholly pagan. Hezekiah, Ahaz’s son, had to remove the high places where the people worshipped instead of at the temple, and break the idols whom they worshipped instead of God.

Go ahead, Baptist Warrenites, rearrange the furniture of the temple; it’s your children who will abandon the temple. It is your children who will worship idols. It is the men of God of the next generation who will have to evangelize your children and grandchildren.

As the adults enjoy their rock and roll in the confines of their churches, the children will develop a taste for rock music, which they will fulfill in smoke-filled arenas. As parents dress down to go to church, their children will dress down even more to go to the mall or the beach.

CONCLUSION

Pastor Warren labels our churches as “traditionalists” unwilling to give up “man-made” traditions, clinging to a few “proof-texts,” and “isolationism” that is stuck in the “culture” of the 50’s. He then encourages our young men to mix and mingle with the world, and model the next generation’s churches after the “worldly lifestyles,” abandoning such ideas as confrontational soul winning, old-fashioned church music, and modest dress standards, and especially hard-hitting preaching.

Yes, he has a crowd. Yes, he is rich. Yes, by worldly standards he is successful. However, the main question is this, “Is he right?”

Warren and other evangelicals reach into our Baptist churches and entice our young people away because they have proven themselves incapable of producing their own young people who are spiritual and who would go into the ministry.

Although they talk much about “life application,” their encouraging messages uplift the spirit without touching the soul. They minister to spiritual junkies looking for a quick fix. Because this generation cannot “endure sound doctrine”, Rick Warren has become the teacher willing to tickle their ears. (2 Timothy 4:3-5) Much like Billy Graham, Warren will impact this generation, but leave no godly heritage for the children and will ruin the orchard. Warren has given birth to the EMERGING CHURCH movement, which is nothing more than the Jesus Freaks of the 60’s.

Pardon me, but give me a Dr. Jack Hyles, who produced a second-generation and a third-generation of Christians serving God. The real proof of a church is in succeeding generations. There is rarely a second-generation Warrenite. Their children develop a taste for the worldly lifestyle by which their own pastors have taught them to live.

A church ought to be a haven from the world, not an extension of it. Baptists are being fooled by Warren’s conservative-sounding doctrine while being influenced by his worldly philosophy and lifestyles. We are to work at bringing man up to God, and not bring God down to man in our churches. The local church must be a foretaste of Heaven and not a foretaste of the world.

Are You Bothered?

2 Samuel 11:25
“Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.”

The verse above is very disturbing to say the least. Joab and Israel fought against the Ammonites. As was the normal case, Joab sent a servant to David to give him an update on the status of the war. This update was different from the rest. In this update was a report that several men were killed when they tried to take a city. Joab informed the messenger to be sure that he included that Uriah had also been killed in this battle.

There was a reason Joab wanted the message of Uriah’s death sent out. That reason was because David wanted him to be killed. When the messenger told David that Uriah had been killed, it didn’t bother him. He acted as if nothing had happened. David’s sin had caused a heart that once used to be tender towards God and fervent against sin to be cold and indifferent. The coldness and indifference towards sin was so evident that Joab saw it. It’s also disturbing that it didn’t seem to bother Joab.

It is amazing how sin causes people to become indifferent towards it. It is astonishing how sin can cause a heart to be cold. It is stunning how sin can turn a tenderhearted person into a cold and calculated manipulator. That is what David became. It didn’t bother him that a wife lost her husband. It didn’t bother him that men lost a friend forever. It didn’t bother him that people’s lives were turned upside down. The only thing that mattered to David was that he got his way. The only thing that was important to David was that he could seemingly commit a great sin and get away with it because of his stature. What David didn’t calculate in this whole plan was that God knew what he did and that he would eventually be held accountable for his sin.

Christian, let me ask you, does sin bother you? Has your sin caused your heart to become cold and indifferent towards the sins of society? Can you hear about the sins of people and it not bother you? It is amazing how our sin can cause us to look at sin through a different set of eyeglasses. It is amazing how our sin can turn a heart cold and indifferent towards its affect on others.

Sin should bother you! It doesn’t matter how “big” or “small” your sin is, it should bother you. It should bother you because it bothers God. You have serious heart problems when you can commit sin and go on as if nothing happened. You have serious heart problems when you think you can manipulate your way out of sin’s consequences.

What is the answer for a heart like this? The answer is to throw yourself at the feet of God and ask Him to change the heart of stone back into a heart of flesh. The answer is to confess your sin to God. If you find yourself looking at sin and not being bothered by it, then you have a good indication that you have a spiritual heart problem. Your daily prayer should be to ask God to keep your heart from being hardened towards sin. Your prayer should be to ask God to help you see your sins the same way He sees them. Don’t ever get to the point that sin doesn’t bother you. Whether or not it affects you or others you love, sin should always bother you. The test of a heart towards God is how much sin bothers it. Does the sin of others bother you? Better yet, does your sin bother you? Your honest answer to these questions will show your spiritual condition.
